POJOKSINEMA – “The Bricklayer” tampil mempesona di tangan sutradara bertangan dingin Renny Harlin. Film yang diadaptasi dari novel spionase karya Paul Lindsay yang juga mantan agen FBI dan veteran Vietnam berhasil membuat karakter Steve Vail yang diperankan Aaron Eckhart cukup bertenaga meski kurang hidup.

Awalnya karakter Steve Vail pernah ditawarkan kepada aktor Gerard Butler. Alhasil aksi ‘spyjinks’ Vail yang agak mirip Jack Reacher jatuh ketangan Eckhart.

Sebagian besar set “The Bricklayer” berada di Yunani dengan menelusuri beberapa kota di sekitarnya. Kecakapan tangan dingin harlin telah menghasilkan film menghibur yang sangat apik dengan penuh warna dan serba cepat.

Hanya saja ini bukan film yang mengalir begitu saja dengan pertalian plotnya.

Sebenarnya “TheBricklayer” juga memainkan plot cerita yang berbelit. Lalu polesan aksi kelahi yang terlalu berlebihan seperti agak terkesan berantakan daripada mengandalkan kemapuan intelentualitas Vail sendiri.
