Padahal The Privilege telah mencoba dengan ramuan jump scare (awalnya) , sayangnya film ini tak mampu bertahan dengan rasa horor sejatinya.

POJOKSINEMA – Pada menit-menit awal menonton film The Privilege keluaran Netflix ini, saya berharap akan banyak sebuah kejutan dari genre horor Jerman ini, namun sayangnya hanya sepenggal harapan saja.

Horor The Privilege seperti sepiring gado-gado dengan keragaman bumbu dan sayurannya ; mulai dari sosok iblis yang samar, eksorsisme, pemujaan, proses memanggil arwah , kooky serta halusinasi.

Alhasil The Privilege tidak berdiri tegak bersama kemauannya menghibur penonton dengan taste horornya.

The Privilege menjadi sosok film dengan plot yang ingin terbang dengan dimensi-dimensi modernnya yang (bagi saya, penulis) agak buram alias abu-abu.

Padahal The Privilege telah mencoba dengan ramuan jump scare (awalnya) , sayangnya film ini tak mampu bertahan dengan rasa horor sejatinya.

Finn yang menjadi sentra cerita The Privilege, sebenarnya digambar dengan latar belakang yang cukup kompromistis untuk membentuk atmosfer horo dan ketegangan film ini.

Finn harus menyaksikan kematian kakak perempuannya yang tragis, saat ia mendapati sang kakak kerasukan roh jahat dan terjatuh dari ketinggian bendungan besar di waktu malam.

Beberapa tahun kemudian , Finn yang beranjak remaja harus berhadapan dengan halusinasi dan masa lalunya.

Pil aneh ( sebagai media yang ingin memperkuat plot cerita) yang dikonsumsi Finn , sebenarnya cukup mengkhawatirkan saya bahwa The Privilege akan kehilangan rasa horornya.

Sayapun bertanya-tanya ; apakah memang ada sesuatu yang menakutkan di tempat tinggalnya hingga ia terus mengalami peristiwa supranatural mengerikan? Ataukah memang ia selalu berhalusinasi? Atau bahkan bisa lebih dari ini?
